A Prayer for the Broken

A Prayer for the Broken

You don’t despise my weaknesses. You don’t laugh at my humanness. You don’t look at me in shame and wish I could be better. You don’t cut down my broken spirit as a game You play because You enjoy it. It is not a way for You to pass the time or be spiteful. You do not make fun of me for being unable to grasp Your love for me or comprehend Your grace and mercy. You do not tire of me when I cannot even find the words to cry out to You. You don’t put out the spark You placed in my soul because I have passed the point of no return.

When I feel broken and the world is crumbling at my feet, I cannot control it. You don’t expect me to.

You help me in my weaknesses.

Your power is brought to light when the dimmest part of me is shown.

You look at me as one who is treasured and loved.

Cared for.

If my broken spirit is caused by You, it is because You have plans for me, plans to rebuild the unfinished work I have tried to do on my own and make me into something exquisite instead.

Your love for me is incomprehensible, You fill me past what I can measure and instead of stopping, You let me overflow.

Any words that I pray come from Your Spirit, my most sincere prayers are the ones I cannot even put words to yet I cry out to You, knowing You will hear me.

You have called me and I am Your own. Since I am Yours, nothing I do can separate me from Your love. Who am I to think that I have the power to make You take Your love from me? Instead, You have compassion on me and promise You will not be shaken.

You do not think I am weak for being weary. You are the only one who completely understands because You are the one who intricately made me. You know how far I need to go until I realize I need You more. Although I feel broken, I will trust that You are the one who is in control. You will heal me, bandage me for I am a bird with a broken wing You have taken into Your care.

This journey I am on, I am not wandering alone. You have plans that are beyond me. Help me give up my brokenness to You so You can use it and do something even more miraculous than I can imagine.
